Through proper planning, both forestry and livestock can coexist. COFORD has identified 500,000ha of land as suitable for forestry without any impact on agricultural production. They are encouraging farmers to set aside short-rotation willow on good-quality land while hindering the more profitable afforestation programme by restricting plantings on unenclosed land.
