On good-quality milk, the average price across all processors was 28.27p/l. Having finished second for December, Glanbia Milk/Fivemiletown is now top of the table, paying 29.4p/l.
Aurivo also paid above the average, with a price of 28.68p/l on alternate day collection, lifting the west of Ireland processor two places to third for January.
Strathroy moves up three places to fourth, paying 27.97p/l, and narrowly edges out Lakeland on 27.94p/l. With no winter bonus on January milk, Lakeland has slipped from first place to fifth.
Although Glanbia Cheese trails Dale Farm by 0.8p/l on base price, the higher volume and mozzarella bonus, along with zero collection charge, helps the Magheralin processor close the gap with Dale Farm to just 0.05p/l at the bottom end of the table.
Average quality
On average-quality milk, the price paid across all processors averaged 27.18p/l. There is little change in the table rankings between average- and good-quality milk, with Glanbia Milk/Fivemiletown again out in front of the pack.
Aurivo is third, followed by Strathroy and Lakeland. In sixth place, Glanbia Cheese is ahead of Dale Farm, thanks to its mozzarella bonus and zero transport charges.
Table C outlines the average rolling milk price for a 1m litre producer over the 12-month period ending January 2020.
Lakeland continues to hold first place on good-quality milk, paying an average of 28.3p/l. Aurivo has closed the gap to just 0.03p/l and remain in second place, with Glanbia Milk/Fivemiletown holding joint third.
Moving to average-quality milk, for the second month in a row Glanbia Milk/Fivemiletown holds on to top spot, paying an average of 26.9p/l over the last 12 months.
Just 0.02p/l separates the three processors placed third to fifth. Lakeland moves up one place to third, with Glanbia Cheese slipping two places to fifth. Aurivo is sandwiched in fourth.
Dale Farm and Strathroy are unchanged in sixth and seventh place. The price gap across all processors is just 0.18p/l.
