Production resumed at Arrabawn’s Kilconnell plant in Co Galway on Saturday last, following a recall of fresh milk due to the presence of bacteria in a product line.

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) issued a recall of a range of milk from supermarkets and shops, including Aldi, Mace, Spar and Gala, after Enterobacteriaceae bacteria was found in a product line at the liquid milk plant.

Arrabawn Dairies confirmed that production at its Kilconnell, Co Galway site resumed on Saturday, following a review by Department of Agriculture officials on the corrective actions taken at the facility, an Arrabawn spokesperson said.

“Arrabawn Dairies’ comprehensive in-house testing programme is also supported by an external accredited laboratory, to give further reassurance on quality and food safety compliance.

“Last week’s incident was the first product recall in the history of the Arrabawn Dairies facility.

“Our liquid milk plant is a very modern facility that has undergone significant investment in the past six years,” he added.
