This year’s Dublin champion Cappa Cassanova regained his All Ireland Irish Draught stallion final title at Clonaslee, judged by John Butler and Fintan Flannelly. Jimmy Quinn’s Welcome Flagmount stallion, bred in Headford by Seamus Leahy, saw off the challenge of Sean Barker’s 2014 Dublin-Clonaslee double champion Gortfree Hero (Castana).
Matching his third place at Dublin last month was PJ Fitzpatrick’s Carrabawn Cross (Young Carrabawn).
Another Irish Draught championship taking place the same day was another mare/foal combination, which was won by Seamus Sloyan’s Elm View (Elm Hill) and her Fast Silver colt, ahead of James Duffy’s recent Leitrim Breeders championship winning pair of Kilmovee White Carnation (Carrabawn View) and her Harkaway Lionhawk colt.

Further down the west coast, Rebecca Monahan had a final outing with her all-conquering Notalot in the All-Ireland three-year-old filly final at Bantry Show. Already a historic winner of the open three-year-old final at Bannow and Rathangan in July, the Lancelot filly was sold since her Dublin clean sweep to Margaret Jeffares, whose Ballykelly Empress was second to her new stable companion in the west Cork final.
Taking third place in the Siobhan Madden and Richard Kingston-judged final was Jane Scully’s Limbo Scarlet (Ghareeb).
