With the so-called "beast from the east" focusing its attention in Ireland this week, Met Éireann has issued a status orange snow and ice warning.
The orange warning is issued for counties Dublin, Carlow, Kildare, Laois, Louth, Wicklow and Meath and will be valid from Tuesday 27 February at 3pm to Wednesday 28 February 2018 at 11am.
There will be scattered snow showers later Tuesday and Tuesday night will lead to accumulations of 4-6cm by Wednesday morning. Widespread frost and icy conditions also.
Yellow warning
A yellow snow-ice warning is in place for Kilkenny, Longford, Wexford, Offaly, Westmeath, Cork, Tipperary and Waterford.
Scattered snow showers later on Tuesday and Tuesday night will lead to accumulations of up to 3cm in some parts by Wednesday morning. Widespread frost and icy conditions are also forecast.
Nationwide advisory
Met Éireann has advised that exceptionally cold weather will occur this week,with air and ground temperatures will be 5-10°C below normal, with significant wind chill and penetrating severe frosts.
Snow showers, mainly affecting eastern areas on Tuesday, will progressively become more widespread and heavier through midweek. A spell of persistent and heavy snow is expected to extend from the south late Thursday and Thursday night, with significant and disruptive accumulations.
Met Éireann is expected to issue further weather warnings as the week goes on, subject to the outcome of a meeting of the national emergency co-ordination group.

The show and sale at Leinster Mart, Kilcullen, Co Kildare on Wednesday, 28 February has been postponed due to the extreme weather forecast.
The show and sale will instead take place on Wednesday, 7 March.

Baltinglass, Delvin and Kilcullen all stated that their sales would go ahead as planned.
All of the marts stated that their decision to remain open was weather dependent but that they were positive that expected adverse weather conditions were unlikely to affect trade.
Sales venues in the midlands and north of the country confident that the weather would have little or no effect on their sale dates.

However the Save Our Sucklers event planned for Clare Marts in Ennis on Wednesday, 28 February, has been postponed until 14 March
