With the harvest coming to a close, demand for straw has intensified, but there have been reports of difficulties in sourcing supplies. With the barley acreage back, straw yields are reported as being back by between 10% and 20% on last year’s volumes. For 4X4 bales, prices are between €11 and €12 in most places. Farmers selling good-quality straw are making as much as €13/bale. There are very few, if any, deals of 4X4 bales making €10. All prices do not take into account transport.
