An online machinery clearance auction, as per instructions for the representatives of the late Edward (Ned) Allen, took place last week.

The auction contained 85 lots (100% clearance), while a further 104 outside lots were offered afterwards. The auction was run by Carlow auctioneer Michael Doyle.

Similar to his last number of auctions, Doyle scheduled the auction to kick off at 7pm in the evening. A total of 652 bidders registered ahead of the auction while almost 3,000 tuned in online on the Marteye app.

Some standout lots included a one-owner 2011 Massey Ferguson 5445 (4WD) with 3,059 hours which sold for €30,800; a one-owner 2006 MF 5455 (2WD) with 6,000 hours which sold for €19,100; and another one-owner 1993 Volvo L30 loader with 15,000 hours which sold for €15,300.

A 2004 Land Rover Defender with 104,000 miles sold for €11,500; a JF 1050 trailed harvester sold for €8,700; and a 2015 Keenan Mech Fiber 320 diet feeder sold for €14,700. None of these lots were subject to VAT.
