With less than 48 hours until the closure of the current tranche of TAMS, there are calls for an extension.
Despite tranche 19 closing on Friday (30 October) farmers are still waiting for results of applications to the previous tranche, which closed in August.
Advisers say they need an opportunity to re-apply for clients who aren’t successful in tranche 18. About one in three applications are likely to be unsuccessful.

While valid applications that lose out in a tranche are automatically rolled over into the next one, advisers say they need an opportunity for clients to amend applications to give them a better chance of being accepted. The main way of doing this is to lower the valuation of the item or items being applied on, increasing the points awarded in the rankings system.
“Not one of my clients has received a letter telling them they have either been accepted or rejected for tranche 18 as yet,” said one adviser.
“Even if all my clients found out their fate today, there wouldn’t be enough time to amend applications to enter this current tranche.”
The previous tranche was extended by two weeks, primarily for this very reason.
