Temperatures across much of the country are again set to plummet to -5°C overnight on Wednesday and into Thursday morning, warns Met Éireann.

The national forecaster has issued an ‘orange’ low temperature and ice warning to apply from 6pm tomorrow, Wednesday evening until midday on Thursday.

It says it will be “extremely cold” with “widespread temperatures below -5°C degrees leading to severe frost and ice”.

The affected counties will include Carlow, Cavan, Clare, Cork, Galway, Kerry, Kildare, Kilkenny, Leitrim, Laois, Limerick, Longford, Louth, Meath, Monaghan, Offaly, Roscommon, Tipperary, and Westmeath.

The Irish Farmers Journal team has provided a range of tips and advice for farmers as they work to manage in the cold weather. See here.
