After a dry start this Tuesday, Met Éireann is forecasting rain in western coastal areas extending countrywide by midday.

It will turn heavy and persistent across the southwest and west.

Winds will pick up, turning fresh to strong and gusty in afternoon temperatures of 7°C to 10°C, but it will become milder after dark.
