Martry Mill Open Day, Co Meath
Located about 10 minutes outside Kells, Co Meath, Martry Mill will hold the second of two open days on Saturday 27 August.
Tours take place at 12pm, 2pm and 4pm, each lasting two hours. Entry costs €10 per person. This includes a tour, bread tasting, tea or coffee and a 2kg bag of flour. Under 16s go free.
Martry Mill is a fully-functional watermill on the River Blackwater, with records dating back to 1641. The Tallon family took over the mill in 1859 and the current owner, James, is the fourth generation of the family at the helm.

Translations, Co Galway
Brien Friel’s acclaimed play Translations runs at the Town Hall Theatre in Galway until Saturday 27 August.
There will be an evening performance on Friday and both a matinee and an evening show on Saturday. Tickets range from €23 to €28.
Translations is set in 1833 in an Irish-speaking part of Donegal. Pupils have gathered in a hedge-school in the townland of Baile Beag/Ballybeg.
Tensions are growing, with plans for a new English-speaking national school and a group of Royal Engineers arriving to map the area.
Translations examines the fractious relationship between people and nations through the lens of language and (mis)communication.

Daniel O’Donnell, Co Kerry
One of Ireland’s best loved performers, Donegal’s Daniel O’Donnell, will play a concert in the INEC Killarney, Co Kerry, each night up to and including Monday 28 August.
Tickets start at €49.50 and each performance begins at 8pm.
Daniel holds a special place in the hearts of his fans, with a music career spanning more than 30 years and having sold over four million albums in that time.
In 2020, he broke his own world record by becoming the first recording artist to chart at least one new album a year in the Artist Album Chart for 30 consecutive years.

Iverk Show, Co Kilkenny
This summer certainly will be remembered as a strong season for agricultural shows, with the majority of the public ready to get back out and about.
Strong attendances have been seen at shows across the summer and Co Kilkenny’s Iverk Show expects to be no different, taking place on Sunday 27 August.
Iverk Show is Ireland’s oldest agricultural show, having been founded in 1826. There is over €100,000 in prize money up for grabs this year and there will be 300 trade stands on offer.
