The Guinness Cork Jazz Festival
Until 30 October: The Cork Jazz Festival, or simply just “the jazz” if you’re a local, is a staple event of the October bank holiday weekend each year, as some of the biggest names in jazz come to Cork.
The events for the festival take place across a number of venues in Cork city, including the Cork Opera House, the Everyman Theatre and Cyprus Avenue, to name but a few.
The festival permeates the whole city, with smaller venues, pop-up events and street activities.

An Turas Mór, Kerry
Until 1 November: An Turas Mór – Homecoming Kerry is a county-wide initiative taking place across the month of October, with the aim of bringing diaspora home.
A number of events have already taken place, with a few big ones left this weekend.
The Listowel Food Fair will take place until 31 October. It is the longest-running food festival in Ireland and features seminars, taste trails, cookery demonstrations by culinary celebrities, artisan food products awards and a tasting dinner.
At the same time, the Patrick O’Keeffe Traditional Music Festival will take place in Castleisland. The 30th anniversary of the festival will see some big names in traditional music come to the town.

Andean Alpacas Pumpkin Carving
Until 31 October: Andean Alpacas is holding its annual pumpkin carving event at its farm just outside Mullingar, Co Westmeath, with different time slots throughout the day.
Walk down the Halloween pathway, visit the haunted house, watch out for the creepy characters, choose and carve your pumpkin and visit the alpacas.
The coffee shop will also be open, serving hot drinks and cakes. Tickets are €18 for each attendee, which includes your pumpkin. Under 1s can enter for free, but do not receive a pumpkin.
