A 183ac Limerick farm nicknamed ‘The Big Field’ was recently touted as the biggest field ever to come on the market in Ireland.

The farm in Lodge, close to Hospital, has all of its land in one single field, with no internal divisions.

Now the Irish Farmers Journal is on a mission to find out how big is the biggest field in Ireland and where it is located.

In recent years, a tillage farm in Stradbally, Co Laois caught the eye when it came on the market with 121ac all in one field.

And it’s said that the Royal county has its fair share of big fields, with speculation that one field close to Kells is close to 200ac and another tops 170ac.

We’ve heard tell of a 260ac tillage field that has 29 telegraph poles down one side and Westmeath reputedly boasts a 300ac field.

But all of those could be trumped by talk of a mysterious 365ac field located somewhere in Leinster.

Do you know where the biggest field in Ireland is? Get in touch by emailing cmurphy@farmersjournal.ie with the details.

Remember, we are looking for the biggest enclosed field in Ireland that can be worked or grazed as a single block – no opening wires between paddocks!
