The World Food Forum took place from 14 to 18 October at the headquarters of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations in Rome, Italy.
The week-long event is organised around three pillars - global youth action, science and innovation and hand-in-hand investment.
The 2024 event highlighted the power of intergenerational collaboration, as well as the importance of partnerships and action across policy, science, innovation, education, culture and investment.
Five Irish youth delegates were selected to represent Ireland's chapter of the National Food Youth Forum, attending Rome and hosting an Irish side event. This was supported by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine.
For this week's podcast, Sarah McIntosh takes us across the pond as she attends the event in person.
She speaks to head of education at World Food Forum Oisin Gill; PhD Walsh Fellowship scholar Niamh Dunphy; and third-year student studying government and political science in UCC Cian Walsh.
They discuss planning the event, the importance of cross-pollination and power of different people from across the world coming together to tackle the future of food production.
