Galway-based All About Kombucha is hitting the open road this summer on an eco-tour of the Wild Atlantic Way.
A company specialising in its namesake kombucha (a fresh, fermented sparkling tea), All About Kombucha will be visiting various west coast towns in August, with the purpose of cleaning beaches while sharing its product with helpers and locals along the way. Its kombucha is made with organic ingredients as well as live cultures and has gained a following among health-conscious consumers who have an interest in gut health.
All About Kombucha has partnered with the Clean Coasts organisation to complete the August beach clean-ups.
“We have a massive connection to the sea, being from Galway,” say owners Emmett Kerrigan and Keith Loftus. “We are very grateful to live by the sea and our team take advantage of this with a daily morning swim to start each day. Our coasts are so precious and we are very excited to make a positive impact in every place we visit along the way. Working with Clean Coasts is a very natural partnership for us and the culture we have in the company.”
All About Kombucha is a member of 1% of the planet - an initiative that links businesses with charitable organisations around the world in a team effort to support sustainability. The small company plans to donate 10% of its 2020 profits to help clean the Irish coastline.
Starting in Bundoran, Donegal, the so-called “Booch Bus” will travelling the Wild Atlantic Way with the three kombucha flavours, Organic Raspberry, Ginger and Lemon, and “Immuni-Tea”, which blends fresh pressed turmeric root, lemon, ginger, carrot and black pepper.
“We owe a lot to our coasts, and that’s what got us thinking about this coastal clean up,” the duo say. “We live on the west coast; the longest coastal road in the world. Being from Ireland, we should be proud of it and protect its natural beauty. So we decided to holiday with a purpose - to travel along the Wild Atlantic Way while cleaning up beaches and giving out our Kombucha.”
