Trelleborg has launched a new tyre to the market that combines the advantage of both a tyre and track in one.
According to Lorenzo Ciferri, VP marketing and communications at Trelleborg Wheel Systems, “PneuTrac delivers unbeatable performance on both steep slopes and muddy terrain, reducing downtime to zero in demanding conditions. PneuTrac combines the advantages of a radial agricultural tyre in terms of fuel efficiency, comfort and handling, with the footprint and traction benefits of a track”.
Trelleborg also claims that the new design allows the tread to work at 100% of its potential efficiency. This means more lugs are in contact with the ground at any one time, putting more power to the ground.
The advantages are reduced wheelslip, fuel consumption and improved productivity from the tractor or vehicle they are fitted to. PneuTrac contains the best-in-class features of Trelleborg agricultural tyres, along with a new sidewall utilising CupWheel Technology by Galileo Wheel Ltd.
The Omega design of the sidewall helps the carcase to sustain load, provide flexibility and an extra-wide footprint, resulting in very low soil compaction.
Ciferri continued: “When designing the PneuTrac, we focused on the specialist requirements of key producers. As with conventional agriculture, the top soil needs to be protected and machine slippage could easily be a disaster for both the soil and roots.
“We firmly believe that PneuTrac is a game-changing innovation and that it again demonstrates our commitment to sustainable farming, helping to protect some of our most valuable agricultural assets.’’
