The annual Fisherstown Tractor Run was blessed with a fine sunny day on 3 July. With almost 200 tractors taking part, the organisers agreed it was their biggest run to date. The tractor run is in its ninth year, with proceeds donated to charity.
You can watch Martin Maher’s drone video footage of the event below:
The convoy of tractors was led by the vintage section, followed by more modern vehicles. Almost every colour of tractor was represented, but one little girl was disappointed that she couldn’t find a pink tractor! Horns were blowing and arms were waving in excitement as the machines set off on the 17km route, which translated to a two-hour journey.
While the tractors were gone, there was plenty of family fun, food and drink to keep everyone entertained. Vintage threshing was a great novelty on the day and spectators observed the way straw was baled in times past.
The event raised €10,000 for the breast cancer unit in St James’s Hospital.
