For collectors of farm models the Agritechnica Show always offers something special. Many of the model makers produce a number of special show models, which in time go on to become collectors’ items in their own right, just because they have that special show badge.
The show attracts all of the major farm model suppliers including Britains, Marge Models, Schuco, Siku, Wiking and Universal Hobbies. The tractor companies also host their own displays and often get first display choice on their branded models for the show. This in itself draws a crowd to the stand and that was obvious among some of the bigger companies such as Claas and New Holland.
Here we look at some of the new model introductions that were shown at Agritechnica and some will filter in our direction in the coming weeks in time for the huge Christmas model market.
Pioneers for Power - Ferguson Lecture
The Harry Ferguson Celebration Committee is hosting its annual Harry Ferguson lecture with the title of The Pioneers of Farm Power, which will be held this Friday 13 November at 8pm at the Hillsborough Centre, Ballinahinch Road, Hillsborough, Co Down.
This is the 21st lecture in the series and will feature three of the most knowledgeable men on the subject of the tractor and its development. Bill Martin, Robert Kidd and Leslie Hutchinson will entertain the audience with a journey through the story of the farm tractor and associated machinery in what promises to be an unusual “lecture”, according to Robert Kerry, the chair of the Harry Ferguson Celebration Committee. This year’s lecture is supporting the Alzheimer’s Society.
