VISIT Headhunters Barber Shop and Railway Museum in Co Fermanagh. If you are up for a unique experience, this museum in Enniskillen will certainly deliver.

Its origins are pretty special, as its founders wanted to combine their traditional barber skills with their interest in local railway history.

The result is a collection of memorabilia such as uniforms and signalling instruments, as well as a reconstructed booking office. Of course, there is also a great display of model railways. And yes, you can get an actual haircut by the founding brothers who are sure to have some good stories up their sleeve on the premises.

HIKE the Great Sugarloaf Mountain. With its distinct conical shape, this mountain rises to 501m and makes for a good day out in Co Wicklow.

There are two trails that you can hike. One trail is shorter and will take about an hour to complete, while the longer one will take about three hours. Both walks offer stunning views of the Irish Sea and the Wicklow landscape. There are some rocky and steep parts along the way, but most of the route is an easy stroll.

Take your time, enjoy the views and breathe in the fresh mountain air – it is well worth it.

EXPLORE The Irish National Heritage Park. You will not get bored of exploring this 40-acre woodland close to Wexford town, that brings over 9,000 years of Irish history to life. You can explore the park on your own, or book a tour.

The park has replicas of old historic sites, such as a Viking house, monastery, ringfort and a castle. You can even stay in one of the Viking houses and dress up in period costumes to fully immerse yourself in history. The heritage park regularly offers courses in traditional skills and crafts and has a falconry on site.

CYCLE the Comber Greenway. The route takes you along an old railway between Belfast and Comber that was closed in 1950. Spanning 11km, the route is flat and laid out with bitmac for convenience.

The greenway offers the best of both worlds, as it takes you through the rural landscape near Comber, as well as passing points of interest in Belfast. You will see the CS Lewis statue, Parliament Buildings at Stormont and views of the Harland & Wolff Cranes.
