Two-hundred-and-four cattle passed through the ring of Ballybofey-Stranorlar Mart on Monday evening with just eight cattle going home unsold to give a clearance rate of 97%.

A mixture of cull cows and breeders alongside calves, heifers, bullocks and weanlings were on offer, with keen demand for all types.

Feeders and factory agents were active for both feeding and cull cows.

Suckler-bred cull cows sold in the main from €2,200 to €2,800/head, with a high of €3,140 paid for one Charolais-cross lot, while some lighter sucklers and dairy-bred cows sold from €1,710 upwards. A small number of cull bulls sold from €2,740 to a high of €4,100.

Suck calves

Angus and Hereford suck calves sold from €385 to €415/head, with Friesian calves selling between €250 and €300/head, with Blue-cross calves selling from €555 to €755/head.

Bullocks and bull weanlings were available in good numbers, with keen farmer activity seen for both. Spring 2025-born bulls sold in the main between €1,800 and €2,200/head, with lesser or lighter types closer to €1,500. Top-end bulls with good weight for age and shape sold up to €2,520/head.

2025-born heifers sold between €1,200 and €1,590/head, with rising two-year old heifers between €1,600 and €1,950.
