Farmer buyers and specialist feeders were the dominant buyers, with a number of buyers sourcing lighter weanlings for grazing as bullocks in 2026.
The general run of prices paid for good-quality continental-cross bulls ranged from €5.30/kg to €5.70/kg for fancier or U grading types, with lesser-quality or grey Charolais or black Limousin-cross bulls selling back to €5/kg.
Friesian bulls
There was a small number of Friesian bulls and these sold anywhere from €3/kg to €3.50/kg depending on quality, while Hereford-cross bulls sold anywhere from €4.20/kg to €5/kg, with the general run from €4.40/kg to €4.70/kg.
Weanling heifers followed a similar price trend to bulls, with a few higher prices paid for a selection of heifers with breeding potential.
There was an entry of about 30 in-calf cows. A significant number were aged between five and nine years of age, in-calf five to seven months and weighing from 700kg to 770kg.
Such cows sold from €2,200 to €2,800, with a couple of lots exceeding €3,000, while at the lower end of quality, lots sold back to €1,900 per head for Angus-cross cows upwards of nine years of age.
