Bullocks over 600kg sold mainly from €2.00/kg to €2.20/kg for average quality types. Those weighing between 500kg and 600kg sold mainly from €2.10/kg to €2.30/kg. There were plenty of farmer buyers for good-quality stores and for weanlings also. The weanling trade was a little stronger than for stores. Bulls over 400kg sold mainly from €500 to €650 over the weight. Bulls from 300kg to 400kg ranged mainly from €450 to €650 along with the weight.
The market for stores was a little weaker, but good-quality types were firm. The trade for weanling heifers was stronger than it was for stores. Heifers over 500kg sold for €2.20/kg to €2.35/kg. Heifers from 400kg to 500kg sold from €2.30/kg to €2.50/kg for average-quality types. Those with breeding potential made 10c/kg to 20c/kg of a premium on the day. Weanling heifers from 300kg to 400kg sold from €2.40/kg to €2.60/kg, with top-quality types making from €2.75/kg to €3.00/kg.
Headfort mart
At Headford mart, bullocks made from €330 to €920 over the kilogramme on Saturday. Heifers made from €270 to €790 over. Weanling bulls made from €385 to €680 over the kilogramme, while weanling heifers made from €325 to €625 over.
Suckler cows made from €1,360 to €1,730, cull cows made from €920 to €1,090, lambs made from €75 to €136, cull ewes made from €70 to €125 and in-lamb ewes made from €108 to €179.
