Algerian authorities have agreed and signed a certificate for the export of cattle for slaughter from Ireland to Algeria with immediate effect. This marked a successful day one for the Department of Agriculture’s trade mission to north Africa. The Algerian ministry granted a health cert for finished cattle of any age weighing over 500kg. It reflects the highest standards of animal health and welfare in Ireland.
This latest agreement offers “significant opportunities” for Irish livestock exports, according to the Department.
Market access for beef and sheepmeat exports was also discussed at the meeting.
