Mice at the Threshing, the memoir of Richie Roe as told to Arthur Broomfield, will be launched on Wednesday 25 November in the Manor Hotel in Abbeyleix, Co Laois. In the foreword, Alice Taylor writes: “The world recorded in this book is long gone. It is the world of a now forgotten Ireland, a rural Ireland of hard work and stoic endurance laced by the support of family and community. This memoir teaches us that the network that held life together then was family and friends.”
Anna May McHugh from the National Ploughing Association will launch the book. All proceeds from the sale of Mice at the Threshing will be donated to the Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s societies. Refreshments will also be provided. All welcome.
