Kevin Lane, the former CEO of Ornua, has been appointed as a non-executive director to Wheatsheaf Group, a UK agricultural investment firm. It is part of the Grosevenor estate, headquartered in Chester, investing and helping to develop businesses in the food and agriculture sector.
“Wheatsheaf is a very interesting business with high-quality and high-potential companies in its portfolio,” Lane said. “What really stood out for me is its ambition to create long-term value by combining commercial success with a focus on delivering social benefit, helping agricultural business be more efficient and adaptable, and tackling issues like reducing the need for harsh chemicals or antibiotics in the food chain and reducing waste.”
During his time at Ornua, revenues more than doubled to €2.3bn. This week Kerrygold, part of Ornua, celebrated becoming Ireland’s first €1bn food brand.
