Tribfest rolls into North Kildare Club

Tribfest, Ireland’s biggest Tribute Band Festival, will be staged at the North Kildare Sports Club on 3 and 4 August. It will feature eight national and international tribute bands playing the hits of The Eagles, Bob Marley, Abba, Bon Jovi, George Michael, Credence Clearwater Revival, Fleetwood Mac and David Bowie.

North Kildare Sports Club president Brian Bagnell says: “Tribfest is going to be some party and I am delighted to see all sections of the club; rugby, hockey, cricket, bowls and tennis coming together to make it happen. It was founded back in 1928 so there is a long history of great service to the community.”

The club is located about two miles from both Maynooth and Kilcock and has full bar and top-class facilities for hosting all events and parties.

Behind the venture are highly respected Carlow promoters, Walter and Ollie Hennessy. They are delighted with the interest being manifested in the Tribfest. “Some of the most successful festivals across the globe now are tribute festivals where the audiences know every song. The feel-good factor is amazing with festivalgoers singing along in unison to all the hits,” says Walter.

Rugby president Ronan Twohig and vice president, John Ennis (who is also Event manager of Tribfest), say they have in the region of 100 volunteers lending support to the venture.

The line up for Saturday 3 August is Fleetwood Mack by Mack Fleetwood, Bob Marley by Buffalo Soul, David Bowie by Moonage Daydream and Creedence Clearwater Revival performed by Creedence Awakened.

The tribute shows on Sunday 4 August are: ABBA by ABBAesque, Bon Jovi by Slippery When Wet Ireland, The Eagles by Absolute Eagles and George Michael by James Bermingham.

Weekend tickets are €40 from and are available from ticketstop.ie, Ray Crofton Motors in Maynooth and Browne’s Service Station in Kilcock. Both shows are from 6pm to midnight and full details are on tribfest.ie.
