Lakeland Dairies is the second processor to announce its milk price for December, holding the same base price as November.
Suppliers in the Republic of Ireland will receive 31.63c/l excluding VAT for milk supplied in December.
The normal out of season bonus applies for December with an additional bonus of 0.95c/l excluding VAT, also paid for December supplies.
Northern supplies
A base price of 27.55p/l will be paid for December milk in Northern Ireland, the same price as November.
Normal out-of-season bonus of 3p/l applies for December milk with an additional bonus of 1p/l, also paid for December supplies.
Industry threats
A spokesperson for Lakeland Dairies said: “There is always a concern over the pace of milk supply growth in many of the main dairy supply regions, which can significantly impact dairy market prices.
“While commodity prices are in a generally stable position, the current and most serious wave of COVID-19 is of major concern to the entire sector.”
Lakeland has welcomed the Free Trade Agreement (FTA), signed on Christmas Eve, stating that a no-deal scenario would have created a hugely difficult situation.
