Little Miss Sunshine – 13-17 August: Dublin’s Olympia plays host to Little Miss Sunshine this summer on 13-17 August. Based on the Oscar-winning film of the same title, the European premiere of this new musical comedy stars Mark Moraghan (Coronation Street), Lucy O’Byrne (Les Misérables), Paul Keating (Eastenders) and Ian Carlyle (The Lion King). This touching and hilarious musical comedy is created by the Tony award-winning team of James Lapine and William Finn, and follows Olive Hoover on her quest to win the Little Miss Sunshine beauty contest. When she gets the invitation to compete, the Hoover family must pile into their rickety yellow camper van to make the 800-mile trip from New Mexico to California. Tickets are available on www.ticketmaster.ie

Film

Gaza – 9 August: This film tells the story of the ordinary citizens of Gaza who are trying to lead purposeful lives despite the raging conflict that surrounds them. Gaza eloquently captures the true essence of their struggle, resilience and human nature and the lengths one goes to for family. Supported by Fís Éireann (Screen Ireland) the film moves beyond the news reports to reveal a world rich in intrigue and ensnares the warmth that bubbles under the surface of the rubble of this remarkable place.
