Kerry Mechanical Engineering (KME), manufacturers of slurry handling equipment, is returning to the National Ploughing Championships to launch a number of new products. One of these is a combined slurry pump and compressor unit for umbilical use, named the Compressor Pump Station Convey Unit, and will feature in the Enterprise Ireland Innovation Arena.

The Compressor Pump Station Convey Unit combines an Applied Concepts PTO air compressor and a Bauer SX1000 umbilical slurry pump on the one three-point linkage, mounted chassis.

Removing the need for a standalone compressor unit, the KME solution allows the operator to control the air compressor and the slurry pump from the tractor cab by means of a gearbox. The operator simply switches from one to the other as required. Additionally, the Compressor Pump Station Convey Unit is equipped with a lazy arm suction hose instead of the conventional 150mm hose.

KME says that having both the pump and compressor mounted on the one chassis reduces setup time, while freeing up the front linkage for other uses, such as carrying an additional hose reeler. It also says that by having the compressor compactly mounted at the rear of the tractor, safety is improved when pulling out of gateways.

Umbilical solutions

KME will also present its 16m umbilical dribble bar and 1,200m Clearspan backpack hose reeler. This applicator features load-sensing hydraulic control, and double macerator units with hydraulic stone traps. The unit features triple-fold break back outer arms and has been designed to sit closely to the tractor.

Features of the Clearspan reeler include hydraulic jack legs, a unique drive gearbox, and protective top bar. Using industrial euro brackets, the reeler can be easily dropped off to save weight in the field.

Tanker solutions

KME will also show its Contour+ hybrid trailing shoe range, which is available in 7.5m, 10m and 12m working widths, alongside a 10m dribble bar, and two 2,000-gallon slurry tankers one fitted with a 7.5m Contour+ hybrid trailing shoe and the other fitted with a 7.5m Eco+ trailing shoe. An 800m front hose reeler and Bauer SX1000 pump will also be on display on the stand.
