The JCB Fastrac has received a long overdue redesign, turning it into a completely new tractor that looks and feels modern with an aggressive tone to the styling.

The new Fastrac 4000 Series models will be powered by a 6.6-litre six-cylinder AGCO Power engine that meets latest Euro Stage 4 / US Tier 4 Final exhaust emissions rules using SCR technology (AdBlue).

The Fastrac 4160 delivers 160hp at 2,100rpm rated speed with up to 175hp available when the engine’s full performance potential is used under load. The Fastrac 4190 is rated at 189hp (208hp max), while the Fastrac 4220 sets new performance levels with 217hp at rated speed (235hp max).

Sales and marketing manager with JCB Edward Roach said: “This tractor has developed to what the customer wants in a JCB Fastrac.”

JCB benchmarked the tractor against leading competitors and listened to reported problems with previous versions.

This resulted in a completely new cab, with a much more bright and spacious feel. The tractor also features Fendt’s tried and tested CVT transmission.

Four-wheel steering is available again, but with a tighter turning circle and selectable steering ratio, along with bigger tyres to improve flotation and traction. JCB claims that, on the standard 540 tyres, a turning circle of less than 10m is achieved.

A more sophisticated suspension system can provide side-to-side self-levelling as well as front and rear.

The hydraulics system is new as well, delivering higher oil flows in a more efficient manner.

The Fastrac has not lost its ability to travel fast on the road. At lower engine speeds, 60km/h is achieved at just 1,600rpm.

A detailed test review will follow later on this month.
