The Irish-bred homozygous polled bull Coose Negotiator (PP) leads the 2025 rankings of the sires with the most pedigree calves registered to him in the British Simmental herdbook. Jointly owned by the 60-cow Team Herd of RJ MacGregor, Perth, along with the 80-cow Drumsleed Herd of GW Smith in Kincardineshire, Negotiator took top spot with 67 calves registered to him in 2025.

Bred by well-known Irish breeder Ronan Tuohy in Co Clare, Negotiator is a son of Tulla Jaguar and out of the Promi (PP) daughter, Coose Hermajesty (P).

He was purchased for €10,000 at the Irish Simmental Cattle Society's Premier sale in Roscommon Mart in 2022. Notably, there are three Coose bulls featuring in this year’s top ten.

Lincoln

In third position with 62 calves registered in 2025 is Coose Lincoln (ET) EX 95 from the Islavale herd of WS Stronach in Keith. Born in 2019, this bull is a son of the well-known Team Celtic out of the Raceview King daughter Corbally Pheobe. Sons of this bull have sold for up to 14,000gns at the Stirling bull sales.

Coose Pat (PP) is the third Irish-bred bull to make the list of top 10 from Ronan Tuohy's herd, coming in at number nine with 43 calves registered to him.

Corskie herd sire

Blackford Mars 21 EX 93, owned by the Green family of the Corskie herd, sits in second place, with 65 calves registered to him in the year. Bred by WG MacPherson in Inverness, this May 2021-born bull was purchased at Stirling in February 2023 for 14,000gns, where he stood Reserve Supreme Champion. At the October 2025 Stirling sale, the Corskie herd’s winning Group of Three were all sired by Blackford Mars 21 EX 93, with Corskie Rosco selling for 15,000gns.

Polled bulls

Making a big move into the top 20 and straight into fourth is another homozygous polled bull in the form of Flop Agrochyt (PP) from the Kilbride Farm Herd of WH Robson and sons, with 52 calves registered. Flop Agrochyt (PP) is by Zentrum Wodnansky (P) and out of Angela Agrochyt, a Celtic Rock daughter.
