The second Sustainable Farm Insights video was launched last week and the topic is biodiversity. Tillage editor with the Irish Farmers Journal, Andy Doyle, along with Teagasc’s Catherine Keena and Glanbia’s Thomas Ryan, met with three farmers.
Sheep farmer Brian Nicholson talks about how he is maintaining biodiversity in his grassland and planting wild bird cover in Co Kilkenny.
The second farmer Denis Large, a beef and tillage farmer, discussed how he rotates grass with his tillage crops and applies farmyard manure to tillage ground and slurry to grassland, which helps to reduce artificial fertiliser inputs and build soil fertility.
