The Dealer hears that the formalised agreement between North Cork Creameries and Carbery to process milk for 2026 has ruffled some feathers in the south west.

Everyone knows North Cork was in trouble last year as they couldn’t process milk and all the neighbouring co-ops helped out,as neighbours do. The fact that a processing agreement with Carbery is now formalised, signals that if North Cork was to ever need another partner, that Carbery is the preferred choice.

Apparently, this hasn’t gone down well in Kerry Dairy Ireland HQ, who might have been expecting to pick up a few new suppliers over time.

It’s a two-hour drive from Moyvane in Kerry to the Carbery plant in Ballineen, whereas the KDI plant in Listowel is literally 10 minutes away from a big chunk of the North Cork Creameries milk pool.
