In a move which will be watched with interest by milk processors across the globe, lab-produced milk is set to start hitting restaurants and supermarket shelves in Israel early in 2026.
Remilk, an Israeli food tech start-up, has partnered with a local dairy to supply the techno milk. The company uses a yeast-based fermentation process to produce the non-animal milk.

That is all par for the course in terms of lab proteins.
However, in a Times of Israel article, the company claimed that its product is “almost 100% the same” as real milk in terms of taste, texture and nutrition.
It will be interesting to see if consumers agree.
It will be fascinating to see the retail price.
And it will be telling to see if a planned launch in the US goes ahead.
