"We need to be alert to this improved market situation and I would ask you to publicise this improvement..."

DEAR EDITOR,
I am an average-sized dairy farmer in the west of Ireland.
Like everyone else in dairy farming, I have seen the price of milk drop in the last few months of 2025 corresponding with the associated drops in the Global Dairy Trade sales on the first and third Tuesday of each month.

Since 6 January this year, every Global Dairy Trade auction has increased in value. The past five auctions have returned a combined price improvement of 24%.
We need to be alert to this improved market situation and I would ask you to publicise this improvement and keep the pressure on milk purchasers who will roll out the poor mouth in an effort to keep downward pressure on milk price.
One can easily be talked into accepting price cuts if global improvements are not highlighted.
