The Irish Farmers Journal’s Brazil exposé, of 22 November 2025 was a game-changer, with its critical and insightful information, consequential to the Mercosur trade deal.
Based on the success of the above exposé, which received international recognition, we are seeking the assistance of your readership in requesting An Rialálaí Agraibhia (the Agri-Food Regulator) to make available the composite market value of the fifth quarter.

An Rialálaí Agraibhia is currently providing composite market price of three categories (forequarter, hindquarter and a 500g pack of 5% fat mince).
We would very much welcome a fourth category ie, the composite market value of the “fifth quarter” as this fourth category would give the total composite market value of our beef animal post-slaughtering.
We as beef farmers deliver our beef product as whole at the beef factory lairage and we believe its not unreasonable to expect the total composite market value of our product post-slaughtering.
