The funds allocation for the Targeted Agricultural Mechanisation Scheme (TAMS) for 2026 and 2027 is expected to be similar to that of 2025 at €87m, the Minister for Agriculture has said.
Responding to a parliamentary question from TD Pa Daly, Minister for Agriculture Martin Heydon revealed the estimated budgetary spending for TAMS for the next two years.
Some €87m was allocated to TAMS last year, the largest allocation since 2020, when some €90m was spent on the scheme.
“The indicative allocation for both 2026 and 2027 will be similar to the allocation for this year, taking into account the number of applications received,” Minister Heydon said.
TAMS allocation in recent years
Overall, from 2019 to 2025, TAMS has been allocated €548m in funding, the Minister said.
In 2019, TAMS received €77m, rising to over €90m in 2020. The following two years - 2021 and 2022 - funding was just under €80m, dipping to €61m in 2023.
Some €72m was allocated to TAMS in 2024, followed by €87m in 2025.
“TAMS III provides grants to farmers to build and/or improve a specified range of farm buildings and equipment on their holdings.
“All investments must be linked to climate, environment or animal welfare,” Minister Heydon said.
