Nigeria – wheat production increases

USDA forecast that wheat production for marketing year 2026/27 will increase by 7% to 140,000 tonnes, tiny in the context of overall demand which will be met by imports of 7.2m tonnes.

Brazil – Live exports record

Brazil exported a record 170,000 cattle in January, more than double the number exported in the same month last year (WBR).

Netherlands – container rates fall

The cost of a shipping container from China to Rotterdam fell to $2,094 (€1,805) last week, having been as high as $2,840 (€2,450) in early January.

New Zealand – dairy exports decline

Despite an increase in production, New Zealand dairy exports fell in January by 4.8%, equivalent to 105,338,430kg (102,178,277 litres) of liquid milk (DCA).
