Appetite for good quality land in the Monaghan and Armagh area is well-known and results in keen interest whenever farms come on the market in the region.

The recent sale of a 60ac residential farm for €1.8m (€30,000/ac) proved just how strong demand is. Fee & Associates Auctioneers concluded the private treaty sale of Annareagh House, Annareagh South, Glaslough, Co Monaghan. An executor sale, it was purchased by a local farmer.

One of the most significant land holdings to come to market in Monaghan this year, auctioneer Raymond Fee reported substantial interest from across the region and beyond.

“Interest in quality Monaghan farmland has remained consistently strong, and this farm proved no exception. Properties of this calibre rarely come to the market. The depth of enquiry and level of demand reflected not only the quality of the holding, but also the confidence in the local land market.

The 60ac residential farm at Glaslough, Co Monaghan sold recently with Fee & Associates Auctioneers.

“Its combination of scale, location, and heritage made it a rare and highly sought-after opportunity.”

He added that the big interest was in the land as the house and yard are run-down.

Annareagh House is a two-storey farmhouse, in need of major refurbishment while the yard, though dated contains a number of buildings and a cattle crush.

The lands, laid out in over a dozen fields are suited to both tillage and grazing.

Less than five minutes’ drive from Middletown, Co Armagh, this farm is just over 6km from Glaslough and 12km from Monaghan town.

A short distance away from the N12 Monaghan to Armagh Road, the property is located between a local road and the Cor River.
