Purcell Brothers has advertised seeking cattle suitable for live export. The company is seeking beef-bred bulls born from May 2016 and weighing from 200kg to 320kg.
The Irish Farmers Journal understands that the firm is seeking the cattle for export to Turkey after securing a contract with Turkey’s state-owned Dairy and Meat Board (ESK). The health cert agreed between Ireland and Turkey is for cattle aged up to 12 months.
Animals must complete a 21-day quarantine in a facility approved by the Department of Agriculture. The firm is expected to begin shipping cattle to Turkey next month.
