Telehandler registrations in September are up 19 units on the same month last year, according to the Farm Tractor & Machinery Trade Association (FTMTA).
After a few difficult months for telehandler registrations, the latest figures show that 50 new telehandlers were registered during September, up from the 31 units registered in September 2019. This brings the total number of new units registered for the first seven months to 349 machines, a drop of 20% on the 437 units registered in the same period last year. Cork (64 units) and Meath (64 units) and Wexford (33 units) are the three counties with the highest registrations.
Wheel loaders had a third consecutive strong month with 11 units registered in September, the same number as registered in August and up from only one machine in September 2019. There has been a total of 105 units registered in the first three-quarters of the year, a 25% year-on-year increase.

Meanwhile, registrations of backhoe loaders are much reduced. There were two such machines registered during September, down from three units a year ago. A total of 27 backhoe loaders have been registered to the end of September, a year-on-year drop of more than 55%.
Two further new combine harvesters were registered during September, bringing the total for the year to 40 units as against 45 in the full year of 2019.
