At the beginning of the pandemic in March, the Irish Charolais Cattle Society was one of the last to get a major sale out of the way before mart doors were closed.
A small attendance didn’t hamper trade and resulted in a bull being sold for the highest price of the year so far.
The bull Noble Prince, bred by Longford breeder Harry Noble, was the high seller, with auctioneer Tom Cox dropping the hammer at €15,000.

This January 2020-born bull was tapped out as junior champion in the pre-sale show and was secured by Bartley Finnegan for his AI company Elite Pedigree Genetics.
Speaking about the bull, purchaser Bartley Finnegan said: “I was delighted to be able to purchase Noble Prince.
"Seeing him at home ahead of the sale I thought he was one of the most complete bulls I have seen and certainly one of the stand-out bulls on sale day.
"He has a super pedigree, figure and is by far the most stylish bull presented for sale in Ireland for years.”
Having gone straight to stud following an isolation period after the sale, semen from the sale topper is now available across Ireland at €40 per straw delivered.
