Application forms for year two of the Sheep Welfare Scheme are currently being circulated to participating farmers.
Farmers must return this form by 2 February indicating whether they wish to continue. The declaration can also be completed through the Department’s agfood facility.
New entrants can also apply before 2 February with new entrants defined as an applicant who has applied for a herd number from 1 January 2017 and prior to 31 December 2017, or an applicant with an existing herd number who has not held or traded in sheep for a two-year period up to 31 October preceding the scheme year (31 October 2017 for the 2018 scheme year).

Farmers who wish to join the scheme or have any questions can contact the sheep welfare scheme section on (076) 106 4420 or email sheepscheme@agriculture.gov.ie. An application form will be issued.
