There is slightly more life in the lamb trade this week following a 10c/kg increase in base quotes offered by Irish Country Meats.

The plants in Camolin and Navan are quoting €7.70/kg plus their 20c/kg quality assurance(QA) payment for Thursday.

This has opened up a 10c/kg to 20c/kg differential in base quotes, although while competing plants have not increased their base quote they are rivalling prices paid by ICM to regular sellers and groups. Prices at the higher end of the market range from €7.95/kg to €8/kg, while there are deals being completed in low frequency above the €8/kg mark. Prices still remain €1/kg lower than the corresponding period in 2025.

Base quotes in Northern Ireland remain unchanged at £6.45/kg (€7.40/kg), with regular sellers securing up to £6.60/kg (€7.57/kg). Prices in Britain remain well ahead, at an average of £7.20/kg (€8.20/kg).
