Arrangements are currently being finalised to issue the first tranche of payments to tillage farmers who applied for the Weather-related Crop Loss Support Measure, the Department of Agriculture has said.
Some 160 applications were received by the Department for the €1.5m scheme.
A Department spokesperson said: “In addition, a number of queries are on hand where farmers have been requested to submit further details or clarifications.
“As this further information is received, these applications will also be further processed. The standard 5% of eligible cases have also been selected for on-site verification.”
The scheme has a maximum compensation amount of €10,500 (€300/ha x 35ha), applying to farmers who lost over 50% of their acreage.
