Tirlán awarded 14 suppliers from across the country for producing top-quality grain.

The 14 winners all grew a different product from feed wheat and barley to beans and oilseed rape to food-grade products such as oats and malting barley.

The awards were presented on Tuesday 20 February. Attendees toured Tirlán's oat mill in Portlaoise before the awards ceremony.

They were also the first to hear new results from Teagasc, which saw information gathered from 48 Tirlán growers and used to develop a model to calculate a carbon footprint for individual Irish grains.

The Deering family from Co Laois took home the overall award for their food-grade oats, while the Sheridans from Co Meath were awarded the new sustainability award.
