UCD agriculture society (AgSoc) has announced its new committee members for the 2019/20 academic term.

Aoife Bergin from Co Tipperary has been elected as the new AgSoc auditor.

She will be supported by a backroom team consisting of students from all years of agriculture in UCD.

Charities

Each year, AgSoc partners with charities for fundraising events throughout the year.

This year, two new charities have been chosen.

The first chosen charity is St John’s ward in Crumlin Children’s Hospital, a charity which specialises in treatment for children with cancer and provides top class care for patients and their families.

Teac Tom is the second chosen charity, an initiative started by the Hayes family from Co Kilkenny to support individuals and families affected by suicide.

Aoife Bergin said: “There’s always great excitement starting afresh and picking two new charities, motivations are high and everybody is full of new ideas.

“The ability to fundraise through social and educational events is a rewarding experience and makes it all worthwhile knowing you’re doing it for the benefit of the charities.

"It's great to know your efforts are always truly appreciated and can make a huge difference."
