The US-Ireland R&D Partnership Programme is open to applicants at the moment but a number of eligibility criteria must be met to apply for the funding.
A maximum grant request has been set with the budget for applicants in the Republic of Ireland capped at €350,000 and at £250,000 for Northern Ireland applicants.
The Department of Agriculture, Food and Marine and the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA) expect that the funding requested by applicants to be commensurate with the work proposed.
Seven priority areas are included in the programme:
Pests and beneficial species in agricultural production systems.Animal nutrition, growth and lactation.Animal well-being.Animal health and disease.Tools and resources - animal breeding, genetics and genomics.Understanding antimicrobial resistance.Food manufacturing technologies.The US-Ireland R&D Partnership is an alliance between Ireland, Northern Ireland and the United States which was officially launched in 2006.
Its aim is to promote collaborative innovative research projects which create value above and beyond individual efforts. To date 40 projects have been successfully funded under the partnership.
This is a programme where principal investigators from the United States, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland collaborate in response to calls for proposals in selected areas in the Agricultural and Food Research Initiative Foundation Programme.
Applications
In terms of submitting an application to DAFM and DAERA applicants in the Republic can convert the completed application form, budget template and any attachments to a single Adobe pdf and submit by email to research@agriculture.gov.ie
There are different deadline dates assigned to the seven selected areas applicable to the US-Ireland R&D Partnership Call in Agriculture.
Applicants can consult the joint DAFM/DAERA document on the US-Ireland R&D Partnership 2018 Call in Agriculture which is available to access on the Department's website.
