Conor Galvin - appointed chief executive officer of Ornua
Making the move and leaving his current role as chief executive at Dairygold to take up the reins in Ornua is Conor Galvin. Conor joined Dairygold in 2014 and held a number of roles in its senior leadership team before becoming chief executive in January 2022. Prior to joining Dairygold, he was finance director with DCC’s Food and Beverage division, and he was also country finance manager with Procter & Gamble in Ireland.
Speaking about his new appointment, Conor says: “I am honoured and excited to be given the opportunity to lead Ornua into the future. For decades, Ornua has delivered significant value for Irish dairy families through the strong connection that it creates between farmers and consumers.”
Margaret Murphy - appointed area business manager, Syngenta
Margaret Murphy.
Having started her career as an agronomist with Irish Sugar, Margaret then worked with Barclay Chemicals as a product manager, moving into an amenity sales manager UK role. For the last four years, she worked with Terrachem Ltd in Ireland as a business development manager.
Speaking about her appointment, Margaret says: “I look forward to the challenge of taking on new responsibilities and developing my skills with a company who are focused on sustainability and innovation. It’s an exciting time to be joining Syngenta as we introduce new products to the Irish market in 2024.”
Ciaran O’Sullivan joins MSD Animal Health, on-farm sales representative
Ciaran O’Sullivan.
After almost nine years working with Dairymaster as a regional sales manager, Ciaran O’Sullivan replaces Billy Heffernan as on-farm sales representative at MSD Animal Health. He will cover the Kerry, Cork, Limerick and Clare area.
Speaking about his new position, Ciaran says: “I’m thrilled to join the MSD Animal Health team, and look forward to the challenge that this new role will provide covering a larger region and working more closely with farmers.
“I’m confident that with MSD’s portfolio of products, I can help farmers to overcome the challenges they are facing by improving animal welfare and productivity on-farm.”
Lorna Power - appointed business manager at Premier Nutrition
Loran Power.
After finishing her agricultural science degree in Waterford Institute of Technology, Lorna travelled to New Zealand, working on dairy farms. She then joined Devenish Nutrition as a technical nutrition graduate, where she spent two years on their graduate programme before progressing into a commercial nutritionist role. Lorna is currently undertaking a ruminant nutrition master’s at Harper Adams University.
Speaking about her new role, Lorna says: “I’m looking forward to working with the fantastic team of people at Premier to support both current customers and prospective new business on the island of Ireland across all species. I’m thrilled to have joined Premier Nutrition during such an exciting phase of growth.”
