Chinese infant formula company Emerí Nutrition officially opened its new manufacturing facility in Navan, Co Meath on Tuesday.
The food-grade facility is part of a €15m investment which will see the company producing 5,000t of infant formula in its early years, doubling to 10,000t in time.

Emerí will source infant formula ingredients direct from Kerry Group and will blend and package the finished product for export to China.
Emerí Nutrition is a subsidiary business of Eurbest Dairy, a well established Chinese infant formula company.
The new plant in Navan will employ up to 30 people.

Meanwhile, Glanbia has begun commissioning tests on its new drier at Belview, Co Waterford.
The co-op put the first milk through the equipment in the past week.
The drier is scheduled to start operating in 2020 and will manufacture infant formula powders for Asian and other markets.
